Our Story

Firmly Rooted in Chatham for 190 years

Chatham Presbyterian Church has been a cherished part of our community since its founding in June 1835. The original clerk of the church's session, Luther Ransom, purchased 2,100 acres of land south of Springfield, and in 1836, he laid out a new town, naming in Chatham after the local Presbyterian church.

The congregation met in the homes of its members until 1851 when land was donated at Market and Mulberry Streets for a church building. Eventually, in 1971, the church purchased a building on East Chestnut. Since 1987, the church has made its home at Walnut St. and Gordon Dr. in Chatham.

During its 190-year history, Chatham Presbyterian Church has faithfully served the Village of Chatham, sharing God's word with compassion, caring and connection.

Our Vision

Our Vision is guided by core values:

CARING: God calls each of use to care for each other and the world around us as Jesus cares for us.

COMPASSION: God calls us to be compassionate and share His love with all.

CONNECTION: God calls us to connect through worship, fellowship and service to our neighbors, our community, the nation, and the world.
